The Greatest Gift Of All

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

As the Christmas season approaches we are all thinking about gifts - ones we give to each other and ones we are hoping to receive. Many years ago, God the Father gave us a very special gift in the form of a baby named Jesus. Jesus grew to become a man and when He was 33 years old, His Father gave us another gift, the free gift of forgiveness from our sins and the opportunity to spend eternity in heaven with Him.

As I reflect on the gift that God gave us, I think of it in the following ways…

Gracious Gift– God’s mercy extended to mankind

Intimate Gift – God sacrificed His only Son

Free Gift – Nothing asked of us in return

Timeless Gift – Lasts for all of eternity

Imagine someone giving you a gift that is so precious to them, nothing is required of you except to receive it and it will last forever! As we approach the gift-giving season, may we always remember the Greatest Gift that was ever given and share that Gift with those we know.
