Everything We Need

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”  (2 Peter 1:3)

A few months ago I got married to the perfect man for me!  His name is Tom.  He is wonderful and worth the 40 year wait! He and I have the privilege of serving together in H*VMI and it is a sweet gift from the Lord.

As every newlywed couple can tell you though, there is always an adjustment period as we learn about each other and grow in oneness.  In this learning and adjusting period the Lord has shown me some refining that he wants to do in me.  Never a fun process, but oh so necessary.   The other day I was thinking about some ways that the Lord wants me to grow and change and I started to be a bit overwhelmed.  Along with that were thoughts of discussions my husband and I were having about how Godless the world is getting and I was thinking “Christ is the only one that will enable me to live as the Lord wants me to in these days.”  Right after this thought the Lord brought to mind 2 Peter 1:3.

What great encouragement I have found in meditating on this verse!  I don’t have to feel overwhelmed or worried about how I can become more like Christ and live as He wants.  I am a child of God.  I know Him.  Not just by name, but I have an intimate relationship with Him.   I have EVERYTHING I need to live a godly life in Christ because of the Holy Spirit and His power at work in and through me.

May the Lord encourage you today in whatever overwhelms you or whatever you are concerned about.  If you are God’s child YOU have EVERYTHING you need for living a Godly life for His glory.
