Thankful For God’s Peace
/Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:15-17
What is the connection between letting the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and being thankful, having gratitude and giving thanks?
In the above verses we are challenged with letting “the peace of Christ rule in our hearts.” Letting God’s peace “rule” means to let it be the umpire in our hearts, determining the direction of how we process things and live our lives. Being thankful is the attitude that we are commanded to have as we allow the Word of God to live inside of us. We are also called to minister to others with an attitude of “gratitude” in our hearts to God.
How do you deal with the change in circumstances around you – are you thankful? Are you experiencing the peace only He can give you?
As we approach Thanksgiving, take a moment to be thankful for the peace of Christ in your life. Thank Him for the opportunities to minister His peace to those around you. But above all else, “do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
