Pray With Joy For One Another
/I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:3-6
This particular greeting from Paul to the Philippians was a special one because he wanted them to know that even though he wasn't right there with them, he was praying for them with joy! Paul's attitude of joy in praying for the believers is one that we can take and apply to our prayer life as well.
He was assuring them that it was a partnership in carrying the gospel forward and that God would see them through everything they were doing to spread the Good News.
What about our attitude when we are praying for one another? Do we seek to pray with joy for others? Maybe we have a person in our life or ministry who really rubs us the wrong way - are we able to pray with an attitude of delight or gladness for that individual?
Praying with joy means...
- taking a look at your own heart and asking God to give you that attitude of joy and gladness
- asking the person or persons you are praying for how you can best intercede for them
- writing them notes of encouragement to let them know you are grateful for the privilege of praying for them
Take a moment to ask the Lord who you should be praying for with joy in your life and then connect from the heart!
