Being Relentless

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25

My sister and I are pretty close in age. I was one year behind her in school. We shared a bedroom but there were times when we each needed our own space. Sometimes I would purposely provoke her into an argument just to get her stirred up! Nice sister - right? Actually, we laugh about those times now but sometimes I could be relentless in irritating my sister!

What does this have to do with Hebrews 10:24? Paul is encouraging us to be relentless as we urge other believers around us to show benevolence to one another as well as to do acts of kindness for each other. He reminds believers to hold on tight to the hope we profess (Christ) and to continue fellowshipping together.

What are some ways we can spur each other on?
  • Praying for each other
  • Speaking words that are kind and encouraging
  • Being honest with one another
  • Working alongside of others to help them know what they should be doing
  • Modeling Christ's benevolence for others
