Abundantly Available
/But I call to God, and the Lord saves me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice. Psalm 55:16-17
Many years ago I worked for a Bible College as a Resident Supervisor for the female dorms. I was responsible for over 200 ladies and 19 Resident Assistants. Part of my job description included being available to the college on a 24 hour basis to handle any crisis that would come up in the female dorms. Although I was willing to be available 24 hours a day, it could be difficult at times when I would receive at call at 2:00 am by a security guard reporting that someone had not yet signed back in.
That experience reminds me that God is abundantly available to you and me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And He hears our cries of distress when we are facing difficult circumstances in our lives. Wow - what a wonderful promise to remember!
Perhaps you are helping someone through ministry or caring for a loved one or even feeling overwhelmed by what is going on in your life right now. In Psalm 55, David was up against some really tough enemies and feeling pretty distressed by his situation. However, David knew that he was not alone, that God was there for him and always abundantly available to hear his concerns and to assure him of His care.
Further in Psalm 55 we read in verse 22:
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you, he will never let the righteous fall.
God wants to hear from us and He desires to carry the burdens we bear. The next time you are facing overwhelming struggles within your ministry and/or life, please remember that He is abundantly available to hear you and strengthen you no matter what time of the day or night!
