Perseverance

Last time we talked about the attitude of perseverance which is joy! Now let's look at what perseverance is in regard to our everyday walk with the Lord. To persevere means to persist, continue, keep at it, carry on or keep trying. The author of Hebrews encourages us to persevere in our faith in chapter 10, verses 23-25 which reads:

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

We can persevere in our faith because...

  • God is faithful
  • We have the hope of Christ within us
  • We are not alone in this journey called "life"
  • We have a responsibility to spur one another on to love and good deeds, and to encourage one another
  • God controls our time and Christ's return

What does persevering look like for you? Next time we will look at a few ways that we can persevere in our faith!
