Where Do You Go When You Have Problems?

1 Samuel 1:10 - "She was deeply distressed and prayed to the LORD and wept bitterly." Verse 15 – "But Hannah answered, ‘No, my lord, I am a woman troubled in spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the LORD." Verse 18 – “And she said, 'Let your servant find favor in your eyes.' Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad."

This month I have been reading about Hannah. She was certainly a woman of faithful prayer. She was facing a painful situation in her life. She had no children. Her husband had another wife and this wife who had children tormented Hannah for quite some time.

I don’t know what situations you are facing. Many of us are facing a variety of challenges. They could be serious health issues, the death of a loved one, financial crises, rebellious children, etc. These are challenging times. What are we to do?

I believe Hannah gives us the solution! Go to God! She fought her battle on her knees; so must we. She gave her problem to the Lord and left it there. How do we know this? Because the Bible tells us she was no longer sad. We can always have hope because we have God! Prayer connects us with God. Prayer changes us! It may not always change our circumstances, but when we pray and give those circumstances to God, He changes us and puts our focus where it should be—on Him and who He is.

My prayer is that whatever you are facing today, you will be like Hannah and take it to the Lord, fully surrender it to Him and allow Him to work it out in you and through you. God is always for us!
