Missionary:      MARLENE VANDENBOS

With H*VMI Since: 1999
Marlene VandenBos

What I do at H*VMI:

  • Work with the Discipleship team by teaching Bible studies in a residential setting, at camp and mentoring young adult women with disabilities
  • Assist with the Disability Training team

About Me:

Family: I was married to my best friend, Bert, for almost 29 years before the Lord called him Home on May 31, 2007. I miss him greatly and look forward to being reunited with him when Christ returns or calls me Home. Although we never had any children of our own, God has given us many special relationships with young people along our way. I have one sister who has ministered in Bangladesh with her family for many years. Her two daughters, Melanie and Megan (both now married) are also special in my life. And my Dad (still going at 97!) lives with my step-mom in Michigan.

Hobbies: I love reading, music, and spending time with friends.

Background: I graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a Diploma in Christian Education and from Eastern Michigan University with a BS in Special Education. I taught Spec. Ed. in a public school in Grand Rapids, MI before Bert and I moved to PA in 1980. Through the years I have taught pre-K, tutored children with special needs and assisted my husband in his Graphic Arts business in numerous ways. We rejoined the ministry of H*VMI in 1999.

Please Pray for Me:   (Click on my newsletter below for more specific requests.)

  • For wisdom as I mentor young women with special needs
  • For creativity as I prepare Bible lessons to teach at Inglis House and at Camp this summer
  • For strength and perseverance as I continue to adjust to life without Bert
