Missionary:      JUDY BLORE

With H*VMI Since: 1990
Judy Blore

What I do at H*VMI:

  • Director of BASIS, the ministry for bereaved parents
  • I have also served a few weeks at Camp, an amazing experience!

About Me:

Family: My husband, Wally, and I celebrated our 40th! wedding anniversary in the fall of 2007. I think this is an amazing accomplishment. We have 4 grown children who have encouraged, challenged and taught us many things. The oldest, a daughter, works behind the scenes in theater and TV production. The second, a daughter, is a nurse, married and the mother of our only 2 grandchildren. The third, a son, is developing his own business in real estate investments. The fourth, a son, works in theater, in front, acting and writing. I would describe their individual personalities, in a word, as: creative, practical, competitive, and compassionate.

Hobbies: I love gardening. It's so hopeful, fruitful and it is working in partnership with our Creator. I also sew a little and watch too much TV.

Background: My undergrad degree is in Chemistry. I have a Certificate in Pastoral Counseling from Christian Counseling and Education Foundation in Glenside, PA. I worked in research at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and managed the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia before coming to H*VMI.

Verses That Mean Much to Me: "Trust In him at all times, O people; pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. … One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you O Lord, are loving." (Psalm 62:8,11,12a) -- God invites us to tell Him all about what's bothering us. Then He tells us that He loves us and He is mighty. If the Almighty God loves me, then whatever is happening in my life right now, it's going to be all right eventually.

Please Pray for Me:   (Click on my newsletter below for more specific requests.)

  • That the plans we make for the BASIS ministry, for teen groups, for parent groups, for the memorial service in October and the Breakfast in April, will be God's plans. Pray that we can truly bring His comfort to families.
  • That our first contact with a newly bereaved family is done with great sensitivity to the Spirit's leading so that each conversation or letter is just what these people need to hear at that exact time.
  • That I can effectively minister the comfort we can find in Christ with the bereaved people whom I serve.
